"Electronic Swiss Army Knife" Approach

• TechSAT’s COTS PC approach supports a sophisticated Portable Data Loader but also provides a rugged PC host for other third party maintenance applications. Because the data loader is a fully functional Windows PC (with touch screen) the PDL Mk.II can also host and support a wide variety of maintenance tools: terminal function for Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM) , Fault Isolation Manuals (FIM), or host other maintenance tools such as airframe manufacturer-provided maintenance terminal applications, fault history readers, bus analyzers, and other software-based maintenance applications.

Long-Term Support

• The selection of the Panasonic Toughbook with its broad military, government, and industry user base assures long-term availability of PDL Mk.II COTS PC hosts replacements form factor. The PDL Mk.II can be updated with follow-on Panasonic versions easily and simply as PC hardware advances or as new operating systems become available which drive an economic reason to upgrade. 
  

Operational Security/GSE Familiarity

• For organizations used to traditional GSE, the PDL Mk.II is at home on the flightline, hangar, and repair shop and would not look out of place in any airlines tool room. When combined with the power of the “FLS management systems” electronic distribution system, TechSAT’s modular design provides the flexibility to economically maintain, upgrade, and locally repair to meet current and future changing fleet maintenance requirements.
  

Maintenance Equipment Cost Reduction

• The modular construction and use of COTS PC as the central processing core provides an easier to maintain and repair solution when compared to traditional Ground Support Equipment (GSE) designs. The modular design of the PDL Mk.II means that all central components can be accessed and replaced in a repair shop or flightline environment.
